BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

On May 22, 2024, the City Council approved a multi-year PWA with WCA for Citywide tree maintenance services in the annual amount of $1,250,000. On March 25, 2026, Amendment 1 to the WCA PWA was approved administratively as a no-cost amendment.  Amendment 2 to the WCA Agreement would include additional funding provided as part of the Fiscal Year 26-27 Budget. These additional funds will allow Public Works to service and maintain more City owned trees, trimming three zones instead of two zones as well as planting additional trees citywide as budget allows.

On June 21, 2023, the City Council approved a multi-year PWA with RDO for Citywide landscape maintenance services in the annual amount of $180,000. On January 10, 2024, the City Council approved Amendment 1 to the PWA with RDO in the amount of $50,000 for landscape enhancements to Tyson Park and the Bandshell area. On July 31, 2021, the City exercised the option to renew the first one-year renewal in the amount of $230,000. On September 25, 2024, the City exercised the option to renew the second one-year renewal in the amount of $230,000. On April 15, 2026, the City exercised the option to renew the third one-year renewal in the amount of $230,000. On June 17, 2026, the City Council approved Amendment 2 to the PWA with RDO in the amount of $570,409 for landscaping work associated with AB 1572 which bans the use of potable water to irrigate non-functional turf. Amendment 3 with RDO includes additional funding provided as part of the Fiscal Year 26-27 Budget. These additional funds will allow Public Works to provide additional landscaping for our Fire Stations, Parkways and Median Landscapes.

FISCAL IMPACT
