BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

The County of San Diego NRP provides grant funds to County departments, public agencies, and to non-profit community organizations. Public Agencies are eligible to apply to fund public safety programs that benefit and meet the needs of the community through the preservation and protection of life and property.

The Oceanside Fire Department has identified the need for equipment to support the growth of its wildland division. These funds will be allocated to acquire essential tools and equipment for vegetation management and wildland firefighting, ensuring the Department is well-positioned to effectively mitigate fire risks and respond to incidents. Additionally, the funding will provide new members with the appropriate wildland personal protective equipment, enhancing their safety and preparedness in the field.

This initiative will be executed in collaboration with the City of Vista, strengthening the collective efforts of both cities to address wildfire risks. These combined efforts will help ensure the successful expansion and sustainability of the wildland division and also supporting long-term fire prevention strategies.

FISCAL IMPACT

The $25,000 in grant funds will be deposited and appropriated into Neighborhood Reinvestment account 836187725272.4376 and 836187725272.5330. The grant award has no matching funds requirement.
