TITLE: PURCHASE ORDER TO TS INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY FOR ONE VERTICAL END MILL MACHINE
RECOMMENDATION
title
Staff recommends that the City Council approve a purchase order to TS Industrial Supply, in the amount of $26,449, for the purchase of one vertical end mill machine for the Water Utilities Department; and authorize the Financial Services Director, or designee, to execute the purchase order.
body
BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
Water Utilities staff is responsible for maintaining the City’s water and wastewater treatment facilities. The vertical end mill machine will be used by staff to fabricate new parts and pieces for plant process equipment that have been discontinued and are no longer available for purchase. The ability to create new parts for critical equipment allows the City’s water and wastewater treatment facilities to continue to properly function, ensuring public safety, and creating a more efficient workflow.
Staff secured three quotes for one vertical end mill and TS Industrial Supply submitted the lowest quote; therefore, staff is recommending the City Council approve this procurement as a three-quote purchase. Over $100,000 has been spent or encumbered with TS Industrial Supply in the last 12 months, so City Council approval is required for this purchase.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total proposed cost of $26,449, includes tax and shipping plus a 15 percent contingency in the event of a price increase between initiating the purchase and final delivery. The purchase will be funded as indicated in Table 1. Sufficient funds are available for this purchase.
