BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

On June 5, 2024, the City Council approved a purchase order with CES in the amount of $200,000 for street lighting supplies. Items were formally bid and the lowest responsible bidder was selected.

The Public Works Department has completed Phase I of the Citywide Light Emitting Diode (LED) Street Light Conversion Project, which has an inventory of approximately 8,500 street lights. Phase II retrofitted 650 lights in parks, parking lots, municipal pier, and decorative post-top lights in the Downtown area. Phase III included replacement of 250 lights at City facilities and additional park and parking lot lights.

As part of the Citywide LED Street Light Conversion Project, the City entered into an agreement with GE Current to provide a computerized or software management system called GE Current Lightgrid Hosting Services. This asset management system allows the City to monitor, troubleshoot and track the inventory of approximately 8,500 street lights and associated assets. In addition to the computerized management system, special hardware is needed for the street lights to implement the communication system.  This purchase is for the maintenance and upkeep of the City’s street lighting system and will provide necessary system products.

FISCAL IMPACT

The change order with CES in the amount of $88,413 will be charged to the Lightgrid Customization ARPA account 837178621271.5355 which has an available balance of $92,565, therefore, sufficient funds are available.
