body

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS

On May 8, 1992, the City Council established the Police and Fire Commission. Per Council Policy, each Commission must submit to the City Council a workplan indicating specific projects and tasks proposed for each fiscal year to support the Commission's purpose and scope of responsibilities.

The Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Workplan (attached) delineates the Commission’s mission to consider and make recommendations to the City Council on policies pertaining to safety, police, fire, and other areas where public safety may be of concern.

In the course of its work in fiscal year 2024-25, the Police and Fire Commission will address the following notable issues in addition to other responsibilities:

1)                     Continue the efforts of the Standing Oversight Committee.

2)                     Review and amend the policy and procedures of the Standing Oversight Committee to ensure efficiency and better serve the community.
