TITLE: PURCHASE ORDER TO CS-AMSCO FOR MOTORIZED VALVE ACTUATORS FOR THE ROBERT A. WEESE FILTRATION PLANT
RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve a purchase order to CS-amsco in the amount of $25,076, for the purchase of four motorized valve actuators; approve the purchase as a sole source; and authorize the Financial Services Director, or designee, to execute the purchase order.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
The Robert A. Weese Filtration Plant (Weese) treats raw water to produce most of the City's drinking water. Part of the treatment process includes eight filters which utilize 16 motorized valve actuators for production and backwashing.
The 16 Auma motorized valve actuators used on the filters have been in operation for approximately 12 years and have reached the end of their useful life. Staff is requesting four actuators with two different configurations which can serve as spares for all 16 motorized valve actuators currently in use at the plant filters.
In July 2024, staff purchased nine Auma actuators for valves located at the plant lagoons. Three quotes were secured and the Auma actuators were the lowest cost. Staying with Auma at this point will allow the Utilities Department to only need two types of actuators for all 27 motorized valve actuators.
CS-amsco is the sole provider of these motorized valve actuators. Staff has obtained a quote from CS-amsco, which includes estimated shipping and taxes.

Staff recommends the City Council approve this procurement as a sole source per City Code Chapter 28A to maintain consistency across systems at Weese, reduce the cost of maintenance work, and the number of spare parts to purchase and keep in stock.
