TITLE: ADOPTION OF RESOLUTIONS FOR THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2026
RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt three resolutions related to the Oceanside General Municipal Election: calling and giving notice of the General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for the election of one Council Member to represent District 1, and one Council Member to represent District 2, and for any ballot measure(s) that may be authorized by the City Council; requesting the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to consolidate the General Municipal Election with the Statewide General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, pursuant to Section 10403 of the Election Code; and adopting regulations for candidates for elective office pertaining to materials submitted to the electorate and the costs thereof for the General Municipal Election.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
The November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election shall be for the election of one Council Member to represent District 1 for a four-year term ending in 2030, and one Council Member to represent District 2 for a four-year term ending in 2030
FISCAL IMPACT
The Registrar of Voters’ estimated cost of $60,000 will be charged to Elections and Political Reporting account 120123101.5305 which has a budget of $269,164 for FY 2026-27; therefore, sufficient funds are available.
