TITLE: APPROVAL OF ONE ADDITION TO FLEET VEHICLE AND FOUR PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THE PURCHASE AND UPFITTING OF FIVE VEHICLES FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve an Addition To Fleet (ATF) vehicle and purchase order for Hawthorne CAT, in the amount of $379,016, for an excavator/mower for the Flood Control/Storm Drains section; approve a purchase order for Miramar Bobcat, in the amount of $158,563, for the purchase of two Bobcat machines for the Street and Median Maintenance section; approve a purchase order for K?ssbohrer All-Terrain Vehicles, in the amount of $179,447, for the purchase of one Cherrington Beach Cleaner for the Beach Maintenance section; approve a purchase order for Quality Lift Trucks, in the amount of $105,678, for the purchase of one forklift for the Fleet Division; all units requested are to be utilized by the Public Works Department; approve a contingency fee of $10,000 to account for any changes to costs of procurement and upfitting; and authorize the Financial Services Director, or designee, to execute the purchases order upon receipt of all supporting documents.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
Each budget cycle, vehicles that meet their anticipated service life in years and/or miles, are planned for replacement. Prior to purchasing a replacement vehicle, Fleet and the department using the vehicle(s) determines if the current vehicle type and usage needs is the same, if there is less expensive alternative, if there is a greener alternative, and if the current vehicle has any useful life to become a Fleet loaner vehicle.
