Staff recommends that the City Council accept $15,000 in grant funds from AARP for the purchase and installation of outdoor fitness equipment at Libby Lake Park; appropriate the grant funds; and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement.

BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
??The City of Oceanside was awarded an AARP Community Challenge Grant to support the installation of outdoor fitness equipment at Libby Lake Park. The AARP Community Challenge Grant Program provides funding for quick-action projects that improve public spaces, promote healthy lifestyles, increase accessibility, and support communities of all ages.

?The Housing and Neighborhood Services Department's Libby Lake Community Center staff began hosting monthly community meetings in October 2024 to provide residents with a consistent forum for collaboration, discussion, and community engagement. Residents regularly gather to discuss public safety, infrastructure improvements, neighborhood initiatives, and opportunities to enhance walkability and overall livability in the Libby Lake neighborhood. Through these meetings and other engagement efforts, residents have partnered with City staff, nonprofit organizations, and county agencies to identify priorities, share concerns, and help guide community improvements and services. One of the priorities identified through this ongoing community engagement process was the desire for additional outdoor fitness and wellness opportunities in the Libby Lake neighborhood.
